Prashant Nair is an Indian-born film director, screenwriter and producer best known for his New Age Indo-American films Nair started his film career as a screenwriter and then rose to become a prominent director and producer. His first filming venture was a rom-com short titled ''Max & Helena'' but he did not make a full-length movie until 2011 when his micro-budget Pan-Indian movie, ''Delhi in a Day'' won critical acclaim. He later wrote and directed ''Umrika'' (2015) which priemiered at 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Nair won the '' World Cinema Dramatic Audience Award'' at 2015 Sundance Film Festival for ''Umrika'' and a number of awards for ''Delhi in a Day'' ==Biography== Nair was born in Chandigarh, India to Malayali parents and was raised in Europe, Africa and Asia before going on to live and work in New York, Paris, Prague, Berlin and now Mumbai. He credits his constant moving and exposure to different parts of the world as the biggest impact on the subjects of his films. He initially worked in social media well until 2010 and came into filmmaking, relatively late. Though his first film venture was a romcom short titled Max & Helena, his first full-length film was the micro-budget ''Delhi In A Day'' which had a limited theatrical release in India in 2012 but was received well by critics. His 2015 film, ''Umrika'' came as a surprise hit when it won the '' World Cinema Dramatic Audience Award'' at 2015 Sundance Film Festival where it was priemiered.
